THE ROLE
As Technical Program Manager, you will be responsible for leading a wide variety of cross-functional engineering projects. You will have an integral part in critical projects that improve our product and introduce new products.
This position requires a strong understanding of business processes, operations, and required documentation. You should be an analytical and agile problem solver who can work with a large number of stakeholders to drive cross-functional teams to a common goal.
Responsibilities
- Manage fast-paced cross-functional projects from end-to-end, covering a range of programs and subsystems
- Develop and manage project plans and ensure on-time delivery
- Constantly work to evolve our processes towards increasing precision and dependability, while still maintaining the agility that has gotten Tesla to where we are now
- Lead the teams with strength and confidence through rapid development cycles, changing requirements, and uncertainty
- Drive execution and completion of multiple projects at the same time across internal and external stakeholders
- Act as advocate and liaison for APAC engineering organization with a number of North America and EMEA based groups
- Cross-functionally communicate at a senior level key developments and updates on new projects
- Start-to-finish Interior component ownership: exterior/closure/lighting, Specification, prototype manufacturing, component validation.
- Collaborate with exterior/closure/lighting design, program management, manufacturing and reliability test teams
- Rapidly iterate as design requirements and vehicle features mature over time
Requirements
MUST
- BS or MS in Automotive Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- 2+ years' technical program management experience, 5+ years total
- Experience automotive development process, Experience in 3D CAD and 2D drawing tool. Prefer direct experience in Catia.
- Prior exterior/closure/lighting systems engineering experience, and ideally experience with complex electromechanical systems as well. Individual contributor design engineering experience is highly valued.
- Familiar with the exterior/closure/lighting parts manufacture process.
- Good sense about perceived quality and Craftsmanship.
- Experience building, developing, and managing highly effective program management tools and processes
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills with ability to work in a highly cross-functional and global environment
- Excellent organization and delegation skills with ability to own the product roadmap and schedule with a track record of delivering projects on-time
- Ability to inspire confidence in the executive team as well as the engineering project teams, as the face of your programs
- Experience managing end-to-end product deployment — from concept through development and successful launch
- Solid product sense with the ability to understand product architecture and as well as drive and criticize design decisions
- Ability to quickly understand complex problems and effectively facilitate a team to decision and action
