Core Responsibilities
The main focus of this role is to
- Work on Intellectual Property (IP) related tasks in China, in the areas of copyright, trademark, patent and design rights matters, infringement of these areas and unfair competition law claims.
- Train with subject matter experts on IP enforcement and participate in activities
- Support an established team of IP lawyers on a program of enhanced IPR protection and enforcement globally.
- Help senior lawyers with all work related to IP enforcement, including but not limited to online takedowns, raids, preparation and due diligence for lawsuits, Administrative Actions, answering day to day IP questions and IP training.
- Aid in drafting and supporting the local IP protection and enforcement strategy for China.
- Receive training on how to conduct and help with conducting IP training to internal employees, external third-party agents, and government officials, and assist with marketing the work done in IP protection and enforcement in China.
- Document legal processes and work output in legal knowledge management tools.
- Assist with data collection on IP cases and analysis and reporting of that data.

The LCR China & APAC Team is the regional legal team covering all of Asia, with lawyers in Shanghai, Jiaxing, Vietnam and Singapore, in a variety of legal positions. It is our mission as lawyers to provide proactive and effective support (Golden Business Partnering) to the business in a way that adds impact and value to their daily work.
This position can be a "stepping-stone" for very junior lawyers or those seeking to grow into IP specialists, who are learning or are already capable of solving some IP legal tasks, and who want to develop further in the IP area or in general in the Legal Department at the LEGO Group.
Next development steps could be as a Corporate Counsel in one of the LCR Regions.
Do you have what it takes?
- A law degree or has passed the Bar Exam (in China or another country) from an accredited university
- Minimum 5 years of (postgraduate) work experience at a global company.
- Must have at least 1-2 years of experience providing at least paralegal level support on IP cases (preferably in China).
- Can be engaged in continuing course work in the IP legal field.
- Has an appetite for and ability to learn new skills, as well as the willingness to follow through on tasks.
- Someone who can demonstrate some critical thinking, who will see connections and part of the "big picture," and is comfortable contributing creative ideas.
- Previous experience working with other companies, government authorities in China or one or more countries within the APAC Region.
- Some travel must be expected, likely not to exceed 30 days per year.
- High proficiency in English and Mandarin Language (written and spoken)
