We are currently accepting applications for HCPC registered Paramedics and Registered Nurses to join our team of Clinical Advisor within our Integrated Clinical Hub at various locations across Scotland.
These are Full Time Permanent and Seconded roles. However, Part Time hours may be considered. Please note there are rostered and non-rostered (relief) positions available.
The Role
The Integrated Clinical Hub (ICH) was established within the Scottish Ambulance Service in 2023 and is a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians including Clinical Advisors, Senior Clinical Support Managers, Advanced Practitioners and GPs. The Integrated Clinical Hub interacts via Remote Telephone Consultation with over 13,000 patients per month in order to assess, consult and match our care to the patient's needs. Patients are offered the most appropriate advice, signposting or response.
Within both the ICH and across SAS, we are committed to developing a workforce capable of delivering the highest levels of quality service and clinical, person-centred care, in line with Scottish Ambulance Service and NHS Quality Strategy.
You will primarily be responsible for providing remote clinical assessment, via telephone and video consultation, providing advice to patients ensuring that their onward care is safe and appropriate to their needs.
Acting as a point of contact, Clinical Advisors provide clinical support to the wider ACC through supporting Dispatch and Call taking processes and to the Operational crews who require professional advice and support from scene.
You will use your clinical decision-making skills to ensure that patients are safely assessed and receive the most appropriate Ambulance response or utilise alternative care pathways to deliver safe and effective care.
Clinical Advisors have continuous professional development incorporated into their role to ensure they are leading the way with patient care.
The Person
You will be a clinically focussed and driven professional, able to evidence your continuous professional development. You should have significant, demonstrable post registration experience, with previous experience in an ambulance service, acute or primary care setting. A paramedic or nurse with extended training skills such as acute illness or minor injury would be advantageous as would previous extended telephone triage knowledge and practice.
You should be computer literate with good keyboard skills.
The Selection Process
The selection process comprises of 3 sections, each must be passed to progress to the next stage.
Stage 1 – Typing Test and Toxbase Calculation.
Stage 2 – Clinical Scenario Assessment Day.
Stage 3 – Competency based interview.
