As the Head of Technology, you will play a crucial role in leading and managing all aspects of Technology operations within the country. Your strategic vision, technical expertise, and strong leadership skills will drive the digital transformation initiatives and ensure seamless technology integration across our retail operations. You will oversee a team of Technology professionals and collaborate with Group Tech and key stakeholders to achieve business objectives and enhance the overall customer experience.

The challenge is to:

Technology-Business Alignment and Engagement

  • Gain a deep understanding of the business' vision, strategies, goals, objectives, and priorities.
  • Partner with the business leadership team to articulate technology needs and requirements that will advance business performance.
  • Serve as the strategic interface between Technology and business for business technology strategy development, solutions strategy and prioritisation, and service management.
  • Manage the flow of business demand into technology through involvement in discovery, ideation, and formulation of business needs and development of IT strategy.
  • Represent business' interest in relevant Technology activities, guiding/leading thinking and influencing/directing actions, decisions and outcomes.

Technology Strategy and Leadership:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Technology strategy aligned with the business objectives and growth plans.
  • Provide visionary leadership to the Technology team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends, evaluating their potential impact on the business and making recommendations for implementation.

Technology Operations and Infrastructure:

  • Work with Group Technology to align the planning, implementation, and management of all technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, and security systems.
  • Ensure the availability, performance, and reliability of Technology systems, minimising downtime and optimising operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans, data backup strategies, and cybersecurity protocols to safeguard the organisation's digital assets.

Digital Transformation:

  • Lead the digital transformation initiatives to enhance the customer experience, optimise internal processes, and drive business growth.
  • Identify opportunities for leveraging technology to streamline operations, improve productivity, and gain a competitive edge.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute digital strategies, including e-commerce, mobile apps, RPA and data analytics.

Team Management:

  • Build and manage a high-performing Technology team, providing guidance, mentoring, and career development opportunities.
  • Define and regularly track progress of team member(s) objectives and KPIs.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, teamwork, and accountability, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across departments.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including negotiations, contract management, and performance monitoring.
  • Ensure compliance with the company's governance processes, policies and procedures.

Budgeting and Cost Control:

  • Develop and manage the Technology budget, ensuring cost-effective utilisation of resources while maintaining quality and service levels.
  • Conduct regular financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting to support decision-making processes.
  • Identify areas for cost optimisation and efficiency improvement, implementing measures to achieve budgetary goals.

Strategic Vendor Management:

  • Lead a comprehensive review of current service providers across omni-channels. Assess and recommend improvements for local solutions that are fit for purpose and alignment with local ecosystem.
  • Formulate and propose strategic plans for future vendor engagements to enhance service delivery, optimise costs, and integrate seamlessly with local market conditions.
  • Monitor and assess the performance of vendors to ensure they meet agreed-upon standards.

Do you have experience in retail business and technology transformation?

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in IT leadership roles.
  • Proven track record of successfully driving digital transformation initiatives and implementing innovative solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of retail-specific technologies, such as point-of-sale systems, inventory management, supply chain, and e-commerce platforms.
  • Expertise in IT infrastructure management, including networks, servers, security systems, and cloud computing.
  • Familiarity with RPA, data analytics, business intelligence, and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels of the organisation.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, control costs, and deliver projects on time and within scope.
