Regional Head – China Region

Location:
Shanghai, China

Job Purpose:

To lead the strategic and operational management of the China region within the Pharma Services domain. This role focuses on delivering service excellence, driving business growth, ensuring regulatory compliance, and building high-performing teams. The Centre Head will serve as the senior-most leader in China, responsible for client satisfaction, operational execution, and expansion in areas including Clinical Research, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, and CDMO support.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic & Financial Leadership

  • Own full P&L responsibility for the China region
    , ensuring revenue growth, cost control, profitability, and financial sustainability.
  • Develop and execute annual business plans, budgets, and forecasts aligned with global strategy.

Operational Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end service delivery, ensuring quality, compliance, and timely execution.
  • Manage regional delivery, support, and functional teams; align with global KPIs and processes.
  • Continuously improve internal operations to increase efficiency and client satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with global counterparts to ensure regulatory compliance and process standardization.

Business Development & Strategic Growth

  • Identify and drive new business opportunities in the Chinese pharma services market.
  • Develop and implement go-to-market strategies, partnership models, and commercial proposals.
  • Represent the company at industry events, forums, and key client engagements.

Client Relationship Management

  • Act as the senior point of contact for strategic Chinese clients.
  • Ensure client satisfaction, retention, and identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling.
  • Foster strong relationships with industry stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and partners.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Recruit, mentor, and lead high-performing regional teams.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, excellence, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
  • Act as a cultural ambassador, aligning the China region with global organizational values.

Key Requirements:

Experience

  • 12–15+ years in Pharma Services, with at least 5–7 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of Chinese pharmaceutical landscape and regulatory environment.

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Business Administration, or related field.
  • MBA is preferred but not mandatory.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proven success in P&L management, operations, and business development.
  • Strong client-facing, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent in Chinese (native or business level) and English (professional proficiency).
  • Strategic thinker with strong hands-on execution and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Cross-cultural leadership experience is a plus
