Under the supervision of the Technical Support Team Lead in the Beijing OPAL-RT Technologies, the Field Application Engineer supports OPAL-RT's software and hardware tools for real-time hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) applications. The position is based in Beijing or Nanjing, China.
The selected candidate is responsible for customer's on-site training, commissioning and integration, as well as internal support and testing. Supporting OPAL-RT's distributors in the Asia-pacific region, helping on upcoming deliveries and developing internal support tools is also part of the job. The candidate has technical abilities and a focus on customer satisfaction. They possess excellent problem-solving skills and solid knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems. They are able to manage both day-to-day customer support and long-term internal projects.

Learn multiple aspects of the HIL simulation and its application allowing you to be in close contact with various industries such as power electronics, automotive, aeronautics, electrical drives and more.

Main Tasks
- Deliver training sessions both internally to team members and externally to clients on hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and simulation technologies.
- Handling customer requests from the support portal
- Assisting client to adapt models and perform HIL test on site (up to 20% of work time)
- Support the development and continuous improvement of training materials and programs related to power systems, control systems, and real-time simulation
- Write technical reports, knowledge base and application notes, etc.
- Participate in marketing events and technical seminars
- Participate in overseas product roll-outs
- Perform product demonstrations.
Requirements
- Education :Bachelor's degree in electrical, electronics or mechanical engineering;
- Experience : 0 to 2 years in a related field;
- Technical knowledge : MATLAB/Simulink and/or LabVIEW; Troubleshooting.
- Basic knowledge of these tools (asset) : NI Toolchains, Linux operating systems, FPGA and VHDL programming, Industrial and communication protocols (i.e. CAN, Modbus, SPI, Aurora);
- Significant assets : Hardware-in-the-loop tools (RT-LAB, NI-Veristand, HYPERSIM, dSPACE, Speedgoat, Typhoon, or RTDS), Industrial HIL testing experience for a full electric vehicle, Simulation of power electronic converters, and Usage of Xilinx System Generator;
- Language abilities : Mandarin and English required, Japanese or Korean is an asset;
- Soft skills: Customer satisfaction, autonomy and proactivity, planning and organization, good communication skills, teamwork and interpersonal qualities, discipline and determination, flexibly and adaptation, able to deal with ambiguity and pressure.
