Nutreco, headquartered in Amersfoort, the Netherlands, with global operations, is supported by a Legal and E&C team of around twenty professionals. This team is responsible for managing legal and E&C risks and safeguarding Nutreco's reputation. The team includes eight BU Lead Counsels who report to the Director Legal and E&C. As our Legal and E&C Counsel, you will support managing the Legal risks and the E&C program for Nutreco China. The position reports to the BU Asia Lead Counsel, who is based in Bangkok (Thailand), and is part of the extended management team of the General Manager of Nutreco China. You will be ensuring the business complies and safeguards itself in line with Nutreco's contract policy as well as ensuring day to day legal advice for the business in China to be run in line with Nutreco's risk appetite. This position is based in Beijing (China). The role provides a great opportunity to work in a global organization and to support the business (management) in ensuring that Nutreco China operates with integrity and in compliance with its values, applicable laws and internal policies.

About The Role

  • Responsibilities
  • Provide clear and timely legal and E&C advice and support to Nutreco China.
  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts with strong attention to risk management, and contribute to the maintenance of the contract management system.
  • Contribute to the development, monitoring and implementation of Legal and E&C policies, procedures, and templates in Mandarin and English.
  • Deliver training on Legal and E&C topics in both Mandarin and English.
  • Maintain structured reporting to the BU Asia Lead Counsel, demonstrating transparency and consistency in monitoring compliance with laws, regulations and Nutreco's policies Skills and Expertise
  • Qualifications o Law degree from a reputable university. o Minimum of 5 years' post-qualified experience, ideally with a major law firm and/or within the legal or compliance function of a multinational company. Experience in M&A activities is an advantage. o Strong knowledge of contract law, competition law and corporate law. Knowledge of data protection or food law is an advantage. o Affinity with E&C, with willingness to further develop expertise in this area. Experience as an E&C Officer is an advantage. o Good written and oral communication skills , with the ability to articulate complex matters clearly, concisely and persuasively to diverse stakeholders. o In-depth knowledge of China's evolving legal landscape, particularly in commercial law, cross-border transactions and data privacy. o Fluent in Mandarin and proficient in English.
