AREA OF RESPONSABILITIES

The
Sales Manager
is responsible for leading the sales team and driving growth across Africa-focused trade lanes in freight forwarding.

The role requires strong leadership skills, trade lane expertise, and the ability to deliver results through both individual contribution and team performance.

HE/SHE is in charge of increasing the profitability of the branch / area by defining and executing the related sales strategy and delivering services solutions to his client base.

He/she ensures the development of clients within his/her area by managing & working very closely with his/her sales team including developing his/her own portfolio.

This role requires deep knowledge of freight forwarding (air, ocean, road, and cross-trade) with a strong focus on Africa trade. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in developing trade lane strategies, securing key accounts, and fostering partnerships across the region.

MAIN MISSIONS

SALES

  • Be responsible for meeting/exceeding sales objectives for his/her own area, by actively promoting Africa trade lane division unique positioning and selling services & solutions.
  • Develop and implement a sales strategy focused on Africa trade lanes (import/export, cross-trade, and transit cargo, Dap…)
  • Participate in and validate the development and execution of the sales strategy for his/her territory in collaboration with his/her manager.
  • Ensure new business development and expansion of existing solutions within the organization.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities to Africa / Build/maintain strong relationships with existing clients, ensuring service excellence.
  • Monitor and analyze Africa market trends in your area, trade regulations, competitor activities.
  • Manage his/her own client sales activities including sales calls, presentations, pipeline and proposals with the inputs of the operation department and overseas offices.
  • Maintain good knowledge of market developments.
  • Guarantee the proper transition between sales and operation teams in an efficient manner.
  • Comply with Group and local offices procedures: SOP's, legal requirements, customer credit policy, business ethics.
  • Liaise with the local Finance Business Partner, in order to ensure that all financial requirements are met in the client acquisition process.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, networking events, and client meetings across Africa and related global markets.
  • Ensure visibility to senior management of his/her progress on a regular basis.

MANAGEMENT

  • Pilot, plan, coordinate and monitor activities within the department (sales and GP target, key sectors and products…), according to the Sales Strategy.
  • Ensure execution of the sales strategy of his/her team by managing & accompanying them on the field.
  • Manage/support the team & ensure compliance of the use of the Group's CRM on a regular basis.
  • Ensure detailed review of sales team performance on a weekly, monthly and/or quarterly basis and recommend actions. Set annual objectives for the Sales team and conduct their annual evaluation.
  • Ensure that the team works according to the Group, company rules and working processes in efficient cooperation with overseas offices and other departments.
  • Develop team spirit.
  • Lead search, recruitment, and induction process of new sales employees.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 5-7 years of experience proven experience in sales or business development within freight forwarding, on Africa trade lanes., with at least 3-5 years of experience in a sales management position
  • Fluent in English & in the local language
  • Proven sales track record on Africa trade lane /Established network of customers, agents, and trade partners across key African markets.

Requirements:
based in South China or Central & North China, full-time permanent contract, degree in International Business, minimum 10 years' experience in the Freight Forwarding sector and previous experience of team management.
