Title: Business Controller, Greater China
Working Location: Shanghai, China
Your opportunity
As the
Business Controller
, you will be responsible for
- To support the financial planning, analysis, and reporting for the Greater China P&L including Mainland China and HK
- To be responsible the operational follow-up, performance analysis, and financial control of all China resorts.
- To act as a strategic business partner, providing data-driven insights to support decision-making across commercial and operational functions, ensuring the financial health and growth of the APAC BU.
How you will contribute
- Commercial Business Control & Analysis
- Own the budgeting, forecasting, and monthly closing processes for the China Mainland commercial activities, ensuring adherence to Group timelines.
- Perform in-depth analysis of commercial performance (e.g., channel mix, pricing, marketing ROI) to identify risks, opportunities, and cost optimization levers.
- Act as a trusted finance business partner to the Commercial team, providing actionable recommendations and supporting business cases for new initiatives, promotions, and strategic projects.
- Resort Operations Control & Performance Management
- Lead the monthly closing, forecasting, and budgeting for all China resorts, analyzing and challenging the P&L results to maximize profitability.
- Work closely with Village Finance Managers to monitor Gross Operating Profit (GOP) and other key operational metrics, driving cost efficiency initiatives.
- Maintain a comprehensive overview of major resort contracts, alerting stakeholders to financial implications and ensuring compliance.
- Planning, Budgeting & Group Reporting
- Drive the implementation and execution of the consolidated budget process for China, aligning commercial ambitions with operational realities.
- Develop and enhance financial reporting tools (in systems like Hyperion, NAFI, Power BI) to improve efficiency, accuracy, and insight generation for both commercial and operational reporting.
- Internal Control & Compliance
- Ensure the thorough application and evolution of Group internal control procedures across all commercial and resort operational activities.
- Conduct regular control checks and audit missions, detecting anomalies, and submitting actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Serve as the key contact for internal control topics for China, overseeing the self-assessment process reported to HQ.
- Projects & Systems
- Lead or contribute to transversal projects aimed at optimizing the business model, improving daily operations, or launching new ventures.
- Build financial business cases for new openings and ad-hoc projects, and monitor pre-opening budgets.
- Follow the evolution of Group IT financial systems and champion their effective implementation within the BU.
Who you are?
- Essential:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance, business controlling, or internal audit, with a proven track record in financial analysis and strategic planning.
- Strong technical accounting skills and excellent analytical capabilities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with financial planning systems (e.g., Hyperion Planning, Oracle Essbase) is a significant plus.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and act as a true business partner to both commercial and operational leaders.
- Fluent in both English and Mandarin (written and spoken) is mandatory.
- Preferred:
- Experience within the hospitality, travel, or retail industries.
- Proven project management skills and a solution-oriented mindset.
- Knowledge of French is an advantage but not required.
