You will lead the development of high-efficiency electric motors with integrated electronics, ensuring compliance with performance, cost, and reliability targets for mass production.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, analysis, and optimization of Permanent Magnet (PM) Motors and Electrically Excited Synchronous Motors (EESM) for high-volume industrial applications.
- Perform electromagnetic and thermal simulations using tools like ANSYS Maxwell, Motor-CAD, and in-house tools.
- Develop motor prototypes, conduct testing, and validate performance against design specifications.
- Optimize motor designs for efficiency, torque density, noise, vibration, and cost-effectiveness in high-volume manufacturing.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure proper integration of motor components.
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and scalability for mass production.
- Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and support cross-functional teams.
- Participate in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and root cause investigations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above in mechanical and electrical engineering discipline.
2.10+ years of hands-on experience in PM and EESM motor design, preferably in the EV or automotive industry.
- Deep expertise in electromagnetic theory, motor control, and power electronics.
- Proficiency in FEA tools (ANSYS Maxwell, Motor-CAD, in house tools).
- Strong knowledge of materials selection (magnets, laminations, windings) for high-volume production.
- Experience with prototyping, testing, and validation of electric motors.
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g. IEC
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience in EV traction motor design (e.g., for BEVs, PHEVs, or hybrid systems).
- Knowledge of motor control algorithms and inverter interactions.
- Programming skills (Python, MATLAB) for motor modeling and automation.
- Experience with thermal management and cooling systems in high-power-density motors.
