As part of Venchi's Global Packaging Development team, the role will be responsible for identifying, selecting, and managing suppliers across Asia for the development and production of premium secondary packaging and gift packs (ie. paperboard gift boxes, tin/aluminum boxes).

About the Role

The role has a dual mission:

  • Translate business requirements into technically, qualitatively, and economically feasible packaging solutions, by identifying and managing the right suppliers.
  • Act as a proactive innovator, suggesting new concepts and packaging ideas that bring innovation and distinctiveness to the brand.

Responsibilities

  • Scouting and qualifying new local suppliers in packaging materials (remarks: open to also other materials e.g. wooden).
  • Leading commercial negotiations and managing supplier contracts.
  • Supporting the technical development of packaging items, from concept to prototypes and mass production.
  • Acting as a liaison between the Asian suppliers and Venchi's central Packaging Development team in Italy.
  • Monitoring suppliers' capacity, lead times, and costs to ensure efficiency and reliability.

A crucial aspect of the role is quality management, including:

  • Working with the HQ Quality Department to define and update suppliers quality standards.
  • Assessing and monitoring manufacturing partners in Asia.
  • Conducting regular supplier audits and quality checks.
  • Managing quality issues and non-conformities, ensuring timely resolution and full compliance with Venchi standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Materials Engineering, International Economics, Supply Chain Management, or related fields.
  • A Master's degree in packaging, supply chain, or international business is a plus.

Required Skills

  • Excellent negotiation and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of international quality and compliance standards.
  • Fluent English and Mandarin are a must.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and coordinate with a European HQ.
  • Willingness to travel frequently across Asia.

Preferred Skills

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in sourcing/packaging development, preferably within international FMCG, food, or premium consumer goods companies.
  • Direct experience working with suppliers in China/Asia in the paperboard and metal packaging sector.
  • Strong knowledge of local manufacturing dynamics and quality/compliance practices.
