Background

Purpose of the Role

Teaching and learning
- Plan and preparing lessons in accordance with school policy
- Teach such students and groups/sets as are assigned
- Execute fluent and regular collaboration and communication with colleagues
- Set, mark and moderate work as required
- Promote the progress and academic development of students, differentiating for ability where appropriate
- Record and assess progress
- Write subject reports
- Prepare students for public examinations according to the specifications
- Contribute to the provision of the department at lunch time and after school, including one evening session a week
- Develop and run elements of the extra-curricular programme for art including trips, societies and speakers

- Input into the target setting process for raising achievement for students across the Key Stage and feedback to the Deputy Head Academic and Head of Senior School.

Pastoral Care

- Coordinate 60;procedures 60;relating 60;to 60;monitoring 60;student 60;welfare, including working with the Heads of House
- Support students with 60;any 60;safeguarding 60;concerns ensuring these are passed on to the DSL or safeguarding team
- Nurture 60;the 60;well-being 60;of 60;every 60;student in the Senior School

External Communication/Engagement
- Ensure 60;parents 60;have 60;access 60;to 60;appropriate 60;up-to-date 60;information 60;about 60;their child’s academic performance and wellbeing within the School

- Contribute to full reports to parents within the reporting cycle
- Ensure equality of opportunity for all through the school’s policies, procedures 60;and practices

- Contribute to the broader development of the department and its ethos through department meetings and taking the lead in some areas
- Promote an appreciation of and culture in both the department and the wider school
- Supporting the planning and setting up of exhibitions
- Act as a co-form tutor

- Maintain good order and discipline amongst students and actively implementing the school’s policies on rewards and sanctions
- Support students as appropriate at major school events and in other activities, e.g. plays, concerts, matches, etc.
