We are seeking a Product Sustainability Specialist to work within our in-house Product Sustainability team to assist in developing processes, tools, and technical expertise as well as perform life cycle assessment (LCA)/ Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) on our raw materials and products to support business growth. In addition, this role will have the opportunity to learn and apply state-of-the-art workflow digital tools to increase day-to-day work efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Model existing & new PPG's raw materials for their LCA impacts and maintain PPG's raw material LCA database
- Conduct LCA modeling in SimaPro for products in SBU's key growth area
- Create EPDs under PPG's EPD process certification and routinely respond to customer's EPD requests
- Create and Publish Health Product Declaration
- Contribute to the development of PPG's next level EPD/LCA automation tools through Microsoft's Power Platform tools
- Work with other PS CoE teams on efficiency projects through developing customized efficiency tools using Microsoft's Power Platform
Qualifications
- Master's degree in chemistry, chemical/environmental engineering or material science Previous experience preferred
- 1-2 years of experience in the chemical industry
- Strong knowledge in coating chemistry and formulation, quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
- Familiarity with LCA concepts, tools and databases (e.g., SimaPro, Ecoinvent, etc.) and be comfortable with managing large amounts of chemical data
- Pays attention to details, work independently and on schedule
- Can-do attitude, proactive and take ownership of projects
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Familiarity with LCA standards & guidelines (e.g., Product Category Rules (PCRs), ISO 14040/44) is a plus
- Quick learner of new digital technology and data analytic tools. Experience in Microsoft Power Platform tools such as PowerBI and Power Automate is a plus
