The Specialist – Supply Chain & IT Commercial is responsible for;
• The development and documentation of targeted category specific Sourcing and Contracting strategies in support of IT and Supply Chain including elements related to China, global sourcing and supplier capability development framework.
• Support IT and Supply Chain in governance activities on end-to-end requirements from sourcing to contract management in MMG.
• As appropriate, lead and deliver corporate sourcing and contract management activities in collaboration with IT.
To achieve this, the Specialist –Supply Chain & IT Commercial requires direct experience and capability across the range of skills of both IT Commercial and Supply Chain, with enhanced capability in stakeholder engagement and influence and written communication skills, in both English and Mandarin.
Specific accountabilities and activities of the role include:
Planning and Prioritising
• Work with Supply Chain peers, IT and other stakeholders to forecast requirements 1-5 years out
• Taking cognisance of IT/stakeholder requirements, the Sourcing and Contracting process and the degree of workload intensity required for each requirement, create work plans/schedules to be executed
• Prioritise activities across concurrent initiatives, monitor progress to milestones and deliverables and seek support as required to ensure strategic opportunities are maximised
• After developing and considering options, escalate unresolved resource requirements/conflicts
Development of Category strategies and related documentation
• Engaging MMG and external subject matter experts, to:
o Assess and confirm internal requirements
o Identify and assess external supply options, including;
Emerging or disruptive innovations and/or technologies
China or other 'best cost' country alternatives
Local sourcing in support of MMG's license to operate
Potential for unplanned incidents to interrupt the sustainability of the supply chain
• In consideration of internal requirements and external options, establish the optimal 'route to market', preferred risk apportionment between MMG and 3rd parties and preferred contract structures and mechanisms
• Develop and document resulting Category strategies, ensuring they represent a consensus view, trade-offs and implementation requirements which site can leverage for their regional category or sourcing strategies
• Submit finalized Category strategies for approval by the global Supply Chain Leadership Team
Support of Sourcing and Contracting strategy execution
• Working with and supporting site Sourcing and Contracting teams, when a requirement covered by an approved strategy becomes current, and ensure the site Sourcing and Contracting team execute the market engagement, negotiation and contracting in line with the approved strategy
• Input into and support of data and analytics required for Sourcing and Contracting Strategies and functional improvement
• Source and analyse appropriate MMG data and external data on a regular basis to
o Track compliance to existing contracts
o Allocate spend to the appropriate category taxonomy
o Aggregate spend in normalized vendor structures
o Track cost driver trend movements and inform MMG stakeholders of the potential impact
• Use analysed data and subsequent category specific insights to inform category strategies, market engagement approach required contract mechanisms

• Strong written communication skills in English and Mandarin, with focus on:
o Documenting thorough, concise and compelling category and or supplier development strategy and other governance documents
o High quality drafting of contracts and associated schedules,
• Ability to plan and execute sourcing activities and negotiation strategies
o Contribute technical expertise in support of managers and site supply teams in developing sourcing and negotiation capability
o Lead cross-functional teams in the selection, development and execution of appropriate sourcing strategies
o Enhance sourcing outcomes through both verbal and written delivery of negotiation messages
o Development of risk management strategies for sourcing activities
o Use of SAP, Ariba or similar ERP system(s) to complete sourcing activities
• Ability to conduct analysis of the cost and capability of MMG's suppliers and supply markets
o Accurately conduct complex commercial analysis, including ability to assess total cost of ownership
o Analyse and interpret supply markets and MMG demand for goods and services
o Monitor changing consumption trends in the market which are relevant to the category
• Proficiency in use of MS Office, in particular strong competency in MS Excel as an enabler for data analysis and MS Word for documentation of strategies
• Bilingual (English and Mandarin)
Experience:
• 5-10 years' experience in Procurement or Supply Chain Sourcing or Category Management roles. (Alternative relevant experience in multiple IT categories, including: IT outsourcing services, Hardware included Laptop/Desktop, Servers, Mid-range Hardware, Storage, Telecom, Network Hardware, On-prem Datacentre, Mainstream Cloud services, Application Software and etc.
• Experience in strategic sourcing or developing commercial arrangements and capture of outcomes in contract documentation
• Proven ability to identify and deliver total cost reduction and efficiency opportunities
