SQD Engineer - China

What to Expect:

We are recruiting for an SQD Engineer based in China.

You will report to a Supplier Quality Manager based in China. The Chinese team management will have matrix reporting into the UK based team. This will ensure you are integrated into the global Supplier Quality organisation, provided with the systems and processes developed for the Supplier Quality function, and supported to deliver a consistent service to the Business.

You will interface closely with the Engineering and Purchasing colleagues in China and the UK to support and develop suppliers in China. You will support the vehicle programme team by monitoring and supporting suppliers to deliver parts as required during the pre-production phase. And you will ensure the quality of parts delivered consistently meet specification through the use of AIAG standard tools and methods and in compliance with IATF16949.

What You'll Do:

  • Work with Engineering and Purchasing colleagues to select and nominate capable suppliers
  • Work with Engineering and suppliers to refine product design (DFM) and define feasible manufacturing processes
  • Work with Engineering and suppliers to support APQP activities ensuring robust and on time completion of tasks
  • Work with Engineering development partner and suppliers to complete PPAP according to commodity timing plan
  • Ensure robust hand over of PPAP parts to Contract manufacturer and support for 90 days post SOP/Job1
  • Manage suppliers in series phase, ensuring they remain capable to produce according to PPAP and resolve any concerns or claims raised by Contract manufacturer robustly
  • Implementation of risk management strategies to mitigate supply chain disruptions and ensure business continuity

What You'll Bring:

  • Degree educated, preferably within a related discipline.
  • Previous experience within a Supplier Quality function required
  • Min. 3 Years experience in a complex manufacturing environment essential and OEM Automotive preferred
  • Experience in IATF16949 requirements and AIAG standard methods preferred
  • Experience of working with both Chinese and Western cultures preferred.
  • Written and oral communication skills in English and Mandarin required
  • Willing to undertake significant amount of business travel
  • Experienced using, training and coaching standard practical problem solving tools preferred
  • Previous experience launching products into production preferred
