- VAVE Project Leadership & Opportunity Identification Lead end-to-end VAVE project delivery: Define project scope, set milestones, and manage timelines to ensure on-schedule implementation. Identify VAVE opportunities across home appliance lines via data analysis and hands-on evaluation: Product Teardowns: Disassemble appliances to map cost drivers and flag high-cost/low-value components. Process Audits: Analyze manufacturing workflows to identify waste that can be eliminated via VAVE. Develop VAVE business cases: Calculate projected cost savings, ROI, and risk to secure approval from senior leadership.
- Value Analysis & Engineering (Technical Execution) Conduct rigorous value analysis to validate that VAVE changes preserve product function and quality: Component Alternatives: Evaluate lower-cost, functionally equivalent components through performance testing. Design Optimization: Redesign parts or assemblies to reduce cost without sacrificing performance. Ensure VAVE changes comply with home appliance industry standards and internal quality requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Implementation Partner with R&D Teams: Align VAVE changes with product roadmaps. Provide technical input to ensure redesigned parts to meet functional specs. Collaborate with Sourcing to secure cost savings. Work with Manufacturing: Validate that VAVE changes are production-friendly. Provide on-site support during pilot runs to troubleshoot issues. Engage QA/QC Teams: Develop validation plans for VAVE changes and track post-implementation quality metrics.
- Cost Validation & Reporting Track and verify VAVE cost savings: Compare pre- and post-implementation costs to ensure projected savings are realized. Maintain detailed VAVE project documentation: Record component alternatives, test results, supplier quotes, and savings calculations for audit purposes and knowledge sharing. Report VAVE performance to leadership via monthly/quarterly dashboards. Identify barriers and propose solutions to keep initiatives on track.
- Continuous Improvement & Innovation Stay updated on home appliance industry trends and VAVE best practices: Monitor new technologies and materials that can unlock additional value. Lead cross-functional VAVE workshops: Collaborate with teams to brainstorm new opportunities and standardize successful VAVE approaches. Conduct post-implementation reviews of VAVE projects: Analyze long-term performance and refine strategies to avoid future risks. Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electrical Engineering (EE), Industrial Engineering (IE), or a related field (e.g., Manufacturing Engineering). Master's degree in Engineering is a plus.
- Experience 10 years of hands-on experience in VAVE or cost engineering, with strong preference for candidates with experience in the home appliance industry. Proven track record of: Leading at least 3 end-to-end VAVE projects that delivered measurable cost savings. Collaborating with cross-functional teams (R&D, Sourcing, Manufacturing) to implement VAVE changes.
- Technical Expertise Home Appliance Knowledge: Deep understanding of home appliance design, components (e.g., compressors, motors, PCBs, plastic parts), and manufacturing processes (injection molding, metal stamping, assembly lines). Familiarity with appliance-specific performance requirements (e.g., energy efficiency, noise levels, durability). Testing & Compliance: Knowledge of home appliance industry standards (IEC 60335, GB 4706, UL safety standards) and ability to design validation tests for VAVE changes (e.g., durability, safety, energy efficiency). Tools Proficiency: Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to review appliance designs; familiarity with ERP/MES systems (SAP, PLM) to access BOM and production data.
- Soft Skills Analytical Thinking: Ability to translate complex cost data into actionable VAVE strategies. Problem-Solving: Skill in addressing VAVE challenges. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to align teams with conflicting priorities. Result-Oriented: Focus on delivering measurable cost savings while upholding quality and compliance.
