Job Description
- Support SAS/SATA/PCIe/NVMe Protocol and RAID controller embedded firmware, OS drivers, and management software, and advise customers on improving their designs based on Microchip's design guidelines.
- Support, manage, and maintain firmware for processor-based storage integrated circuits and reference designs.
- Work closely with Tier 1 OEMs and their ODMs to define requirements, manage deliverables, assist with new product design wins, and support initial system bring-up to full production.
- Understand customer architectures and SW designs to closely work with engineering in providing timely customer technical support of post-production products.
- Work independently, and in a team environment
- Root cause customer issues in a timely manner independently or by leading a cross-functional team.
- Develop and review customer level documentation including user guides, release notes, technical product training, and application notes.
- Understand customer requirements and drive them through the project management process.
- Travel within China and internationally as needed, to work at customer sites to debug systems involving software and firmware for the market leading Microchip server/storage device product lines.
Requirements/Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field
5 years of experience
Strong system, software, and firmware development and debugging skills
Experience with C and object-oriented languages
RTOS and embedded systems experience
Experience with ASIC and embedded applications debugging
- Strong technical leadership, teamwork, communication and presentation skills
- Experience with bench top equipment such as protocol analyzers/exercisers, logic analyzers, and other storage or networking related test equipment
- Ability to effectively work with cross-functional teams and across multiple geographical locations
- Functional spoken/written English
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with storage networking concepts and protocols (SCSI, SAS and SATA, iSCSI, PCI, PCI-Express, NVMe, Ethernet)
- Experience with RISC based embedded processors (MIPS, ARM)
- Hardware and chip development/debug skills
- Experience with high-speed debug equipment like oscilloscopes, DCAJ and BERT
- Past work with Unix & Wintel drivers and experience in FW development with light weight embedded kernels (ThreadX, VxWorks, eCos, etc.)
- Fundamental understanding of RAID
- Experience with mass storage firmware and software
- Performance measurement and analysis experience
- Debugging skills and experience with kernel (Windbg), JTAG, serial port, Greenhills Debugger
- Experience working with Marketing and Sales teams
- Experience in the Storage Industry
- TCP/IP knowledge/experience
- Local Area Networking (LAN) experience
