Key Responsibilities
CMF Strategy & Innovation
- Lead end-to-end CMF design for consumer electronics, from concept to mass production, ensuring alignment with brand identity and market trends.
- Develop breakthrough CMF solutions that enhance product differentiation and emotional appeal.
Material & Process Development
- Research and validate advanced materials (e.g., recycled plastics, bio-based composites) and surface finishes (e.g., PVD, textured coatings) for durability, sustainability, and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with suppliers to prototype, test, and refine CMF solutions for manufacturability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with ID designers, mechanical engineers, and manufacturing teams to resolve CMF-related challenges (e.g., moldability, color consistency).
- Provide DFM (Design for Manufacturing) feedback to optimize production feasibility.
Trend & Standardization
- Monitor global CMF trends in consumer electronics, automotive, and fashion industries to inform design decisions.
- Establish and maintain internal CMF libraries and guidelines to streamline design workflows.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Industrial Design, Material Science, or related fields.
- 5+ years of CMF design experience in consumer electronics, with a portfolio showcasing at least 2 mass-produced projects.
Technical Skills
- Mastery of CMF design processes, including material selection, surface treatment, and color communication.
- Proficiency in Keyshot, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D rendering tools.
- Strong understanding of plastic injection molding, metal processing, and finishing techniques.
Soft Skills
- Detail-oriented with a problem-solving mindset; ability to balance aesthetics, functionality, and cost.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with global teams and suppliers.
