Work you'll do
- Help clients to research accounting literature and conduct technical analysis to evaluate the impact of different accounting policy options available in an emerging business model or complex transaction and identify practical solutions that could help optimizing their financial positions/ performances while staying compliant to applicable financial reporting framework and regulations;
- Support clients from different industries in understanding and improving their financial reporting and management reporting systems, including chart of accounts (COA) design, cost center setup, and system data flow analysis;
- Perform accounting standard comparison and analysis among PRC GAAP, IFRS, and other local GAAPs to support clients in multi-jurisdictional reporting and consolidation. Assist clients to manage the accounting compliance obligations in various jurisdictions as well as handle regulatory challenges;
- Assist in preparing consolidated financial statements and providing insights into intercompany eliminations and consolidation adjustments;
- Collaborate closely with clients and internal teams using effective business English (both written and spoken) to deliver clear analysis, documentation, and presentations;
- Work with clients as well as members of different functions/ service lines to support on the implementation of new accounting standards (e.g. IFRS 9, 15, 16 or 17), including but not limited to: gather and analyze underlying transactional data, analyze the financial impact of the new standard, identify potential changes needed to existing policies and processes, assisting on the redesign and testing of the existing reporting system;
- Assist partners/ managers to work hand in hand with lawyers, sponsors, investors and auditors to assess the accounting feasibility of intricate business arrangements in a deal (e.g. restructuring, business model, etc.) and their impacts on financial performance;
- Research and prepare materials for accounting trainings/ workshops to clients, such as finance teams, board of directors, audit committee, lawyers, sponsors, research analysts, etc.;
- Manage own work in an ethical manner with a continuous attention to quality and risk rules, and confidentiality; and
- Assist on the preparation of proposal and drafting of the report.

We are looking for someone with
- Bachelor or Master degree in Accounting, Finance, or related disciplines
- Preferably professional accounting qualification (e.g. HKICPA, CICPA, AICPA, etc.), but would also consider candidate with strong client delivery experience
- Be an excellent communicator and have fluency in in both English and Mandarin Chinese, including both technical and business writing, communication, documentation and presentation skills
- Solid knowledge of financial reporting logic and systems, including COA design and cost center configuration
- Experience with financial or ERP systems and an understanding of system data flow is an advantage
- Hands-on experience in preparing or reviewing consolidated financial statements is a plus
- Strong interest in exploring and understanding different types of projects, with the ability to form independent insights and perspectives. Has a problem solving and analytical mindset and is able to research questions and present a well-supported opinion
- Minimum one year' of experience in delivering professional services as an auditor of financial statements or a consultant in the area of accounting or finance. Preferably with prior working experience in a professional services firm (e.g. Big Four or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of HKFRS / IFRS, PRC GAAP,US GAAP and/or other local GAAP and preferably have knowledge and experiences in the application of new accounting standards (i.e. IFRS 9, 15, 16 and/or 17)
- Be able to relate accounting standards and financial reporting regulations to business processes as well as to generate business benefits and optimize financial position / performance for clients on top of staying compliant
- Be a team player and can work effectively with the team to foster a high performing, continuous improvement, and technical learning environment
- Able to apply analytical thinking and professional skepticism to surface more complex issues within the audit, and appropriately document judgements and demonstrate a commitment to quality
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Willing to travel
