About The Role
The Distribution Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating shipping activities of warehouse personnel concerned with documentation, loading and or unloading, system maintenance / verification of shipping records and routing of outgoing freight and reshipment of incoming freight. The position is responsible for managing the daily workflow of the shipping department and personnel, oversight of shipment loading to ensure proper loading techniques are employed for damage free transport of shipments, maintenance of ongoing shipping related functions, development of ongoing quality improvement programs for shipment loading and training and assisting in developing and maintaining transportation service for inbound and outbound shipments The position works closely with other departments, such as sales/marketing, production, accounting, inventory control and also interaction with various carrier representatives.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in developing methods and procedures for transportation of raw materials to processing and production areas and transportation of commodities from departments to customers, warehouses, or other storage facilities.
  • Assists in determining most efficient and economical routing and mode of transportation.
  • Directs scheduling of shipments and notifies concerned departments or customers of arrival dates.
  • Directs activities of workers engaged in all aspects of shipping activities, such as but not limited to: staging, loading, unloading, documentation process and disbursement of said documents to required parties and other shipping activities.
  • Reviews documents to ensure that assigned classifications and tariffs are in accordance with mode of transportation and destination of shipment.
  • Schedules shipments to ensure compliance with interstate traffic laws, International import regulations and company policies.
  • Initiates investigations into causes of damages or shortages in consignments or overcharges for freight or insurance.
  • Investigates shipper or consignee complaints regarding lost or damaged merchandise or shortages in shipment to determine responsibility.
  • Directs preparation of claims against carrier responsible and corresponds with shipper or consignee to effect settlement.
  • Conducts studies in areas of packaging, warehousing, and loading of commodities and evaluates existing procedures and standards.
  • Analyzes costs and performance data of shippers.
  • Initiates changes designed to improve control and efficiency of shipping department.
  • Assists in negotiating contracts for leasing of transportation equipment or property.
  • Assists in preparing department budget.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent G.E.D.
  • 6+ years' experience in transportation, warehousing and/or logistics, including 3+ years in a leadership position
  • Transportation management
  • Import / export documents & regulatory requirements.

任职资格

  • 大学专科/本科毕业,物流管理等相关专业
  • 6年以上运输、仓储和/或物流工作经验,其中3年以上领导岗位工作经验
  • 掌握熟悉运输管理
  • 掌握进出口文件和法规要求。
