Overview 概述
As a professional level member of the Quality team with global corporate level responsibilities, the Quality Engineer will be accountable for assuring the continued quality of new and existing products. Achieving this responsibility using Quality Planning Tools to:

  • Own the Advanced Quality Planning process for new product development and lead updates to the process as needed
  • Provide assessments and fact-based guidance during new product development
  • Lead the corrective and preventative action initiatives
  • Lead the continuous improvement efforts for new and existing products

Responsibilities 职责

  • Participates in Global Product Development Process by providing key deliverables to the Operations Team Leader (OTL) and the Technical Team Leader (TTL).

  • Product failure history assessment

  • Product specification review and approval
  • DFMEA review participation
  • Design review participation
  • Product Safety review participation
  • Test plan review and approval
  • Quality plan review and approval
  • Product quality assessments
  • Competitive product quality assessments
  • All other information, as necessary

  • Manages product quality in independent global markets by:

  • Coordinating and leading periodic quality reviews with the returns analysis centers to exchange news on new and existing issues.

  • Publishing meeting minutes with action plans
  • Initiating and tracking corrective action requests for significant issues
  • Periodically visiting the sites to set up new systems and perform related training

  • Reviews and approves all related Product Maintenance activities in WindChill, such as:

  • Product test plans, ensuring testing will be adequate to achieve the desired goal.

  • Product Specification releases and revisions, ensuring all appropriate control characteristics have been properly identified and committed to by the manufacturer.
  • Supplier Engineering Change Requests, assessing impact on product quality and ensuring interchangeability and proper disposition of stock.

  • Provides regular interdepartmental oral quality presentations to:

  • inform the organization on quality performance against plans

  • provide an overview of action plans/progress

  • Manages all product quarantines resulting from significant quality issues with the goal of helping get production up and running in the quickest time possible.

  • Identifies the extent and significance of the issue

  • Ensures all affected product is quarantined
  • Determines whether current production or similar products are affected by the issue
  • Communicates to all affected departments the magnitude of the issue and when shipments can be expected to resume
  • Coordinates problem solving team to resolve issue, resume production/shipments, and implement corrective action.
  • Creates work instructions for any rework needed to restore the product to saleable condition and provides them to the manager of the warehouse location.

  • Monitors product returns information, performing analysis of the data, and communicating (via BPR process) requests for corrective action to the manufacturer. Monitors and analyzes consumer call information to identify new issues, issues not currently being monitored in product returns, and relaying this information to the Returns Analysis managers at each of the analysis centers.

  • Participates in product design reviews, providing failure history information to the Technical Team Leader and status feedback to the OTL.

  • Utilize failure information and expertise to assess robustness of product design

  • Ensures appropriate testing has been completed to assess the design
  • Ensures the project is ready to move into the next development phase.

  • Leads internal quality improvement projects outside of Global Product Development, as needed

  • Manages quality databases by:

  • Ensuring input data is accurate

  • Performing trends analysis
  • Initiating actions for product improvements
  • Maintaining new and existing products and failures in the program

  • Investigates customer complaints through root-cause analysis techniques and testing of returned products and provides corrective action back to the initiator of the complaint.

  • Documents new quality procedures and develops improvements to existing quality procedures. Communicates changes throughout the global quality organization to ensure proper and consistent implementation.
  • Assist in supplier facility audits for supplier quality programs, as required.
  • Performs any other related duties as necessary.
  • Manages interns or co-ops and leads some training activities for new hires, as necessary

Required Experience/Education
Degree minimum:
Bachelor's Degree

Specific concentration:
Engineering

Experience Level

  • Experience of at least 5+ years in Quality Engineering
  • Experience in the Consumer Products Industry

Specialized Training/Education Preferred

  • ASQ certifications (i.e.: CQE or CQM) or equivalent
  • Understanding of Quality Management System requirements, such as ISO 9000: 2008 requirements
  • Six Sigma experience (green or black belt)/knowledge is a plus
  • Products testing or mechanical laboratory experience
  • Experience with supplier certification programs and plant audits
  • Good, self-motivated project management and time management skills

Skills Required

  • Diverse knowledge of manufacturing processes (i.e.: plastic molding, metal stampings, assembly, etc.)
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • Good computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint or equivalent)

  • Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to occasionally lift to 50 pounds onto a counter

  • The ability to use powered and hand tools to disassemble/reassemble a product
  • The ability to use mechanical and electrical test equipment to diagnose failures
  • The ability to distinguish subtle color variations (good color acuity)
