About Role
The Head of DUCKS is a member of the College Leadership Team (CLT). Members of the CLT have joint responsibility for all aspects of the College relating to the education and development of the students; each has a focus of responsibilities, but all contribute to the whole and support the work of others. The Head of College has ultimate responsibility for the team, the staff and the students.

DCB opened in 2005 and has since established itself as a world-class school. The College's current

enrollment is over 1,500. Our DUCKS, Junior School and Senior School are aligned in their

Our school is located in Shunyi, around forty-five minutes from the heart of Beijing. The capital is

Person Specification
The Head of DUCKS will be a dynamic leader with the potential to flourish in the DCB context and make a significant contribution to the College's development as a world-leading educational community. The successful candidate is likely to possess many of the following characteristics, experience, skills, and knowledge.

  • A track record of success as a head or deputy head in an international a similar setting or primary school
  • Proven experience of leading, developing, and motivating teams with a clear commitment to the continuing professional of all colleagues
  • Proven experience of leading a curriculum with a play-based and inquiry-based approach.

Skills And Knowledge

  • A deep pedagogical understanding and knowledge of the young children learn
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships across the school community;
  • Strong people management skills with the capacity to delegate effectively, empower colleagues to take ownership, and provide meaningful support and challenge;
  • High emotional empathy and intelligence with the ability to relate well to a range of people with diverse backgrounds;
  • High levels of cultural sensitivity and flexibility to rapidly understand and assimilate the context in Beijing.

Qualifications And Learning

  • University educated with an advanced degree preferred
  • Recognized current teaching qualification
  • NPQH or equivalent preferred
  • 10 plus years of senior leadership experience as a deputy or head
