Position Summary

We are seeking for a Polymer Synthesis Engineer focused on design, synthesis, characterization, and scale-up of polymers for Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) for electrolysis technology. This role centers on practical engineering execution—applying established scientific principles to optimize the performance and manufacturing processes of anion exchange polymers for membranes, with improved conductivity, durability, efficiency, and cost competitiveness.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in polymer research, design, synthesis, chemical analyses, characterization  and manufacturing process optimization, and will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate R&D results into stable, scalable production solutions.

This role requires hands-on laboratory research, optimization of synthetic processes, and collaboration with cross-functional R&D and manufacturing teams to deliver innovative material solutions that meet stringent technical, regulatory, and performance criteria

The role is based in Shanghai, with the potential to be relocated to Singapore.

Key Responsibilities

* Design, and synthesis novel anion exchange polymers tailored for high performance and durability primarily for water electrolysis

* Test and analyze polymers and raw materials using techniques such as FTIR , NMR, DSC, TGA, GC-MS, LC, rheology and microscopy

* Apply experimental design and statistical analysis to optimize material performance and production processes.

* Develop scalable processes from bench-scale polymer synthesis processes to full production, including troubleshooting and cost reduction, enhanced process consistency and reliability.

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, industry partners, and academic institutions to translate material innovations into practical applications.

* Prepare technical reports, production and testing SOPs, present results internally and externally.

* Comply with laboratory and industrial safety standards for handling chemicals, andprocessing materials.

* Problem-solving skills in troubleshooting, materials optimization, and developing new solutions.

* Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and accurate documentation practices.

* Familiarity with safety protocols for hazardous materials in industrial or laboratory environment

Qualifications

* Master's degree or PhD in Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.

* Experience with designing, creating, and optimalization of polymers for electrochemical energy conversion or storage devices such as electrolyzers, fuel cells, or batteries.

* Proven background in polymer design, synthesis, preparation, and processing.

* Proficiency in analytical, thermal, and rheological analyses of polymers

* Strong quantitative and problem-solving abilities including data analysis and experimental troubleshooting with thorough understanding of chemical and materials safety.

* Experience with polymer film casting processing, optimization, and development of new solutions.

* Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and accurate documentation practices.

* Familiarity with safety protocols for hazardous materials in industrial or laboratory environments.
