Position Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Principal Hull Structure Engineer to lead the preliminary and detailed design activities for our diverse portfolio of offshore projects. The ideal candidate will be the technical authority for hull structure, responsible for making critical decisions, ensuring design excellence, and mentoring a team of engineers. This role is pivotal in driving our technical standards and successfully executing complex, large-scale projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Technical Leadership & Design: Lead the hull structural design process for new projects (FLNG, FSRU, FPSO, Floating Wind, etc.), from concept development through to detailed design.
• Decision Making: Make authoritative decisions on hull structure technical solutions and methodologies.
• Review & Approval: Review and approve all hull structure-related calculations, drawings, and deliverables to ensure compliance with project specifications and international standards.
• Technical Documentation: Lead the preparation and review of critical project documents, including tender specifications, contract technical specifications, and design reports.
• Standards Development: Oversee the development, review, and continuous improvement of company technical standards, design guidelines, and manuals.
• Project Management & Review: Organize and lead technical reviews for hull structure solutions and provide expert resolution for major technical challenges.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the ultimate technical arbiter, resolving design discrepancies between drafting, engineering, and checking teams.
• R&D Leadership: Spearhead the initiation and execution of major research and development (R&D) projects. Qualifications & Requirements
• Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 12 years of progressive design experience in the shipbuilding and offshore engineering industry.
• Technical Knowledge: o In-depth knowledge of the hull structure design workflow, content, and best practices. o Expert proficiency in applying international rules and standards from major Classification Societies (e.g., ABS, DNV, BV, LR). o Ability to analyze gaps between local and international standards and propose design improvements.
• Leadership & Soft Skills:
o Proven ability to lead, mentor, and coach a team of engineers (including Senior Engineers).
o Strong collaboration skills and a demonstrated team-oriented mindset. o Excellent problem-solving skills with the capability to resolve complex technical issues.
