Primary Purpose:
As a member of both the Global OE business leadership team, and the Asia region leadership team, the VP, OE & OES Sales Asia is a key contributor in defining, setting, and implementing the long, medium, and short-range vision, strategy, and objective plans relative to the OE business across Asia. It is critical for this role to stay aligned with Global customer strategy and execution to be sure that the regional decisions have the best outcome for the entire enterprise.
This role oversees the growth and profitability of its customer groups, establishes the profit plan and budgets for these groups, and ensures alignment with Global customer strategies to the regional execution including consistent product offering, pricing, and profitability.
This role is also responsible to provide leadership to the functional areas to drive customer excellence to ensure the organization is able to meet customer expectations for quality, launch and delivery.
The role is expected to interact with and influence customer's senior management, drive customer intimacy, and relentlessly pursues the evolution of the organization to a best in class customer focused model.
This role stays abreast of internal and external industry, marketplace, and government dynamics. It understands the technology and competitive landscape as impacted by these dynamics and influences the customers and the organization advantageously for the success of Clarios and its customers.
Primary Duties:
- As part of both the Global OE and Asia Region leadership teams, contributes to the development of the 5 year strategic plan and annual revisions / updates
- Defines, sets, and oversees effective and efficient execution against the annual, medium, and long-range vision, strategy, objectives, and fiscal year budget plans for the OE business in the Asia region.
- Accountable to ensure the OE organization consistently meets its customer financial targets and profit plans
- Leads the strategic planning and tactical execution for customers in region, but aligned globally, including the growth of SLI, AGM, and Advanced battery designs and capabilities and customer market share growth
- Drives and oversees regular and ad hoc risk assessment and mitigation planning and management
- Identifies industry or other market place trends and dynamics that potentially impact the OE business and leads the strategic response to position the business for maximum advantage
- Evaluates new products, new or updated processes, systems, technologies, equipment or other business and operational strategies and plans for potential implications to the OE business.
- Coaches and guides direct reports and their staff in their work and on interactions and communications with internal and external customers, drives across functional stakeholders to ensure customer expectations are met / exceeded in schedule, quality, delivery, design, and cost
- Sponsors, and leads key processes, including the talent management planning and review, to ensure the OE Asia organization has robust succession and development planning. Provides input to regional and cross functional talent planning processes to ensure necessary organization capability and capacity to deliver for the customer
- Champions, reinforces, and enables the customer account team model through close collaboration with other functions to ensure resources are effectively delivering value for the customer
- Champions initiatives, best practices, continuous process improvement, compliance and quality. Key decision maker on product development processes and programs.
- Works closely with all functional organization partners to develop appropriate safety, compliance, quality, cost, productivity and other relevant policies, procedures, goals, and metrics. Takes accountability to ensure, at all times, that the assigned locations are regulatory or customer inspection ready
Job Specifications:
- Bachelor Degree required, MBA and/or other advanced degree preferred
- 15+ years relevant work experience. 8 or more years leading a global OE customer facing organization at a senior level within a large global automotive manufacturing company required.
- Successful experience delivering profitability and achieving results directly and through others
- Prior experience or strong knowledge in finance, engineering, quality and/or operations strongly desired.
- 8+ years people management experience including managing cross functionally in large matrixed organizations. Previous managerial experience includes leading and overseeing large workforces. Experience in leading a global customer facing organization.
- Experience successfully leading large scale customer and business planning processes to include development and implementation of such plans, goals, and metrics.
- Considerable previous experience successfully interacting and influencing global original equipment customers and internal management at all levels
- Experience effectively introducing new products and technology to the market / customer base including positioning, pricing, etc preferred
- Knowledge of battery technology and portfolio ideal
- Demonstrated track record of consistently using strong business judgement in making decisions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Effectively able to communicate and influence key decisions makers at the customer and internally within the organization.
- Strategic & Systemic Thinking Capability - Ability to take a big picture approach to develop innovative strategies that support & balance both near and long-term objectives for the business, products & and customers
- Proven track record of driving strategy to successful execution by developing and champion teams and processes to deliver business objectives
- Requires approximately 25% domestic and international travel
