Job Summary:

We are seeking an attorney to join our China Legal team, with a primary focus on privacy and data protection. In this role, you will report to the Privacy Counsel and support the Privacy Counsel in implementing and maintaining the company's privacy compliance program in China, while providing practical advice and guidance to business teams on day-to-day privacy matters. The ideal candidate will have strong legal training, excellent communication skills, and hands-on experience advising on China's data protection laws. What You'll Do:

  • Assist in implementing and maintaining the company's privacy compliance framework in China, including policies, procedures, guidelines and internal documentation.
  • Support the privacy assessments for business initiatives, vendor arrangements, marketing campaigns, and product features involving personal information.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate data protection agreements, cross-border data transfer arrangements, and privacy-related contractual terms.
  • Assist with data mapping, privacy impact assessments, cross-border data transfer assessments, and the drafting and updating of privacy policies and notices.
  • Monitor and summarize legislative and regulatory developments in China relating to privacy and data protection, and support practical implementation across the organization.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare guidance materials for internal stakeholders on key privacy and data protection topics.
  • Assist with internal training sessions and awareness-building activities across relevant business functions.
  • Support the proper handling of data subject requests and privacy-related consumer complaints.
  • Provide project management support for key privacy initiatives, including tracking deadlines, maintaining templates, and supporting audit readiness and formal audits.
  • Attend to other legal projects and assignments as may be requested by the supervisor from time to time.

What To Bring:

  • PRC-qualified lawyer with approximately 5 years of post-qualification experience.
  • At least 2–3 years of recent and focused experience in privacy and data protection, with strong knowledge of China's data protection laws and regulatory environment.
  • Solid legal training from a reputable law firm is required.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex legal and regulatory issues and provide clear, practical advice to business stakeholders.
  • Strong legal drafting and communication skills in both Chinese and English.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple workstreams with minimal supervision.
  • A collaborative team player with a proactive attitude and a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
