Job Summary
Perform electrical and controls discipline related design, engineering, configuration, installation, testing and maintenance for projects, events, and facilities to provide safe, reliable, and operable attractions focused on Live Entertainment productions.Ensures designs, components, systems, and installation are optimized for safety and reliability, and compliance with local laws and regulations – as well as performance specifications and internationally recognized industry standards.
Duties include the Electrical system analysis, calculation and design, review LDI, Partner's Design and Shop-drawings, provide technical inputs, authoring and reviewing technical specifications, technical risk and hazard analysis, compliance assurance, provide Tech assistance for maintenance activities and other internal parties etc.
Duties may also include reviewing hardware and writing software for new control systems for safety, security, and reliability, evaluating risk assessments, and performing configuration management of hardware/software. Duties also include supporting downtime recovery, troubleshooting, conducting fault analysis, completing redesign assignments, performing test and start-up integration, etc.
Major Responsibilities
Ensures understanding and complying with UBR requirements and actively participating in Environmental, Health, and Safety responsibilities by following established UBR policies, procedures, and training. Takes a proactive approach in managing safety issues such as performing continuous job safety analyses, enforcing the use of proper PPE, and having regular discussions with the team regarding safety.
Provide electrical engineering services including analysis, calculation, design, LDI Design review, Shop-drawing Review, technical assessment and calculation, risk and hazard assessment, systems analysis, compliance assurance with regulation, Code and Specification, etc.
Provide engineering efforts for performance venues and initiatives for complex electrical, controls, and software systems to improve safety, reliability and operability including design reviewing, evaluation, calculation, writing and reviewing software/hardware, etc. Insure all the efforts is compliance with all the local law, regulation, standard, and UBR & UDX specifications.
Provide direct technical support to entertainment attractions and venues to manage and reduce operational downtime. This may include downtime recovery tasks, such as troubleshooting, repairs, analysis, testing, commissioning, startup, protocol development and other relevant activities.
Maintain configuration management and controls documentation in compliance with program requirements and protocols, service guidelines and best practices.
Develop safety-critical architecture for show attractions, live entertainment venues and seasonal attractions – which may include audio visual, special effects, show action equipment, special equipment or other attraction related ride and show elements.
Build and maintain hazard analysis, failure modes and complex effects analyses.
Write testing requirements, strategies, safety plans and testing procedure documents.
Research new products, technologies, methodologies, and conduct trade-off studies.
Provide the technical supporting to the entertainment attraction's operation and maintenance departments for the downtime recovery, troubleshooting, repairing, technical analysis, testing, startup, etc.
Be responsible for and take ownership of supplier design, engineering, testing, installation and commissioning efforts at supplier locations and project sites.
Consistently perform in a highly collaborative environment, on complementary teams – including technical, creative and operations teams.
Work closely with the reliability team, manages responsible reliability improvement activities included performance monitoring, reliability analysis, and provide robust technical proposal.
Create blueprints and schematics for electrical systems for in-house system deployment based on technical designs and riders provided by specialized disciplines in Audio, Video, Lighting, and SFX.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
8-year experience in an Engineering environment focused primarily on electrical, control, and automation systems, preferably in a theme park environment. Additional design experience is preferred. Experience in HV/LV/ELV design is required with demonstrable knowledge in the following areas:
Law, regulation, standards regarding the related equipment/system and safety.
Progressive site construction support experience in a similar sized organization within the themed entertainment industry.
Strong analytical skills to perform engineering calculations for design, analysis, test, and implementation.
Be able to meet tight deadlines in a fast paced, friendly, and professional environment, you will set and manage against objectives and schedules and effectively coordinate and manage internal and external resources.
Hazard/Failure Analysis Tools.
Strong knowledge for GB code, EC, UL, and NFPA.
Industry Control system infrastructure and configurations.
PLC Programing in Rockwell Logix, SIEMENS Simatic, GE Fanuc, etc.
AC and DC motor and motor control system.
Show and animation control systems.
Be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to support the construction timeline and park operations.
Be able to work independently and as a team member.
Be able to demonstrate good written and verbal skills in English and Mandarin.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PPT, Word, AutoCAD, Circuit design.
Education
EDUCATION: bachelor's degree in M&E Electrical Engineering Design, master's degree is plus.
CERTIFICATION: Register Electrical Engineer preferred.
