IT Director-
ON SITE POSITION LOCATED IN DONGGUAN CITY, GUANGDONG, CHINA

Job Summary:
We're seeking an IT Director in our Dongguan Office to oversee software development, business applications, IT infrastructure, and technical support. In this role, you'll be pivotal in helping us build and maintain software applications and IT infrastructure that improves the efficiency of our employees and partners. You will also ensure that our technology meets the highest security standards while enabling our NY and China offices to work seamlessly together. You must possess knowledge of software development, DevOps, infrastructure, and networking in the Microsoft Azure and O365 environments. The ideal candidate will be able to handle a wide variety of technical and administrative tasks requiring critical thinking and meticulous attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effective end user support and collaboration with colleagues.

The IT Director will report directly to the VP of Technology and Operational Intelligence, Brian Reiss, and will work closely with internal and external parties to help Ground Up build an industry leading technology organization.

Software Application Development

  • Oversee software development of custom business applications including backend, frontend, and API development.
  • Implement best practices in version control, DevOps, release management, and infrastructure as a service to ensure development teams in NY and Dongguan work together with a common set of standards.
  • Ensure all applications, databases, and API's meet the highest security standards with the appropriate security controls.
  • Implement monitoring tools and alerts to ensure the health and stability of internal and external applications and websites.

IT Project Management
:

  • Ensure that IT projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet the expected requirements.
  • Develop and maintain IT project plans that detail timelines, resources, budgets, and potential risks.
  • Manage end to end IT infrastructure projects, including system upgrades, network improvements, and new technology implementations from start to finish.

IT Infrastructure and Technical Support
:

  • Manage and maintain the company's IT systems and infrastructure, including laptops, printers, mobile devices, and servers.
  • Issue devices to employees and establish system for tracking accountability and cost efficiency for these devices.
  • Configure, install, and maintain software applications and operating systems across devices.
  • Ensure all network systems (Wi-Fi, LAN, VPN) are functioning optimally and securely.
  • Oversee and support Microsoft Office 365 suite, including email, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Exchange, ensuring seamless access and performance across departments.
  • Provide technical support to all employees, troubleshooting hardware and software issues to ensure a smooth workflow.
  • Provide hands-on technical assistance with issues related to system malfunctions, device setup, and system upgrades.
  • Manage and resolve security-related issues, ensuring compliance with IT security protocols to protect company data and networks.

Risk Management and Security
:

  • Identify IT-related risks (e.g., cybersecurity threats, data breaches) and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Implement and maintain security protocols, including firewalls, encryption, and regular data backups, to safeguard company information.
  • Ensure compliance with data security standards, protecting sensitive company and client data.
  • Conduct routine audits and assessments of IT systems and security measures to ensure the company is protected against emerging threats
  • Oversee and monitor the security camera network to ensure it is operational and used consistently with company policy.

IT Strategy & Operations
:

  • Document IT processes, policies, and procedures, ensuring consistency and efficiency across all company systems.
  • Develop and implement IT strategies that align with the goals and objectives of Ground Up's business units.
  • Recommend and contribute to AI strategies and development, ensuring effective integration into business processes. Identify opportunities to implement AI for workflow automation, software development, and IT monitoring.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technological trends and solutions to improve operational efficiency and meet future business needs.
  • Recommend and implement new technologies and upgrades that enhance productivity and business performance.

Budget and Resource Management
:

  • Track and report on IT expenditures, helping the VP of technology understand budgetary impacts and provide insights on cost-saving opportunities.
  • Oversee IT resource allocation and staff prioritization to ensure resources are focused on the highest impact projects that will advance the goals of the organization.
  • Manage the Dongguan Office IT budget, ensuring that hardware and software spending is aligned with the company's strategic goals and operational needs.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in IT including building and managing a team.
  • Computer Science-related Certifications, Degrees or Internship experience.
  • Proven experience developing business applications utilizing Microsoft Azure's Cloud. Computing Services and Microsoft's Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI.
  • Experience with GitHub Version Control, Azure DevOps, Azure Bicep or similar tools.
  • Experience with 0365 Administration, including Entra, Exchange, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Experience managing IT infrastructure, hardware and software, and help desk support.
