This position is responsible for the growth primarily of Cellulosic (C) and Hydrocarbon (H) Passive Fire Protection (PFP) in Asia Pacific for the Protective & Marine Coatings (PMC) business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve sales volumes & profitability objectives by providing the necessary leadership for the commercial teams, and by effectively coordinating the sales effort for this technology.
  • Recognized as the subject matter expert on market trends, key industry players, and the distinct needs in the various projects where PFP products are utilized.
  • Identify new business opportunities, and ensure continuing sales growth, by keeping abreast of new regulations, standards and guidance and market segment forces.
  • Maintain technical knowledge of new products, techniques, & competitive trends
  • Maintain a professional image to the industry to enhance PPG's market position. Develop continued acceptance and recognition of PPG products as "World Class"
  • Proactively manage to generate new business and to ensure repeat business by cultivating accounts, supplying good service, and by settling complaints promptly and equitably.
  • Continue growth in managerial sales effectiveness by keeping up to date on technological changes and involvement in other on-the-job and off-the-job activities
  • Support Product Management with technical literature including applications manuals, technical data sheets, brochures, case studies, track records, news articles and technical papers
  • Support the sales and engineering teams for the proper material take off interpretations and value propositions of PPG's PFP product offerings.
  • Support global, regional, and local sales teams by producing accurate estimates of intumescent paint thickness and quantities required to fire-protect steel structures.
  • Perform detailed material take-off's using PlanSwift software
  • Extract and interpret critical information from engineering drawings and bills of materials/quantities using AutoCAD (2D/3D) and BIM-based software to support accurate estimation tasks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, chemistry, business, or a related degree.
  • At least 5 years' experience in strategy, marketing, engineering, or sales within the chemical industry.
  • Demonstrates creative and critical thinking skills
  • Knowledge of commercial industry's safety performance standards and regulations related to fire protection
  • Knowledge of the fire protection engineering and/or fire test methods is a benefit
  • Proficiency in gathering and analyzing market intelligence. Ability to assemble and organize multiple sources of intelligence into a clear market assessment is required
  • Strong business acumen demonstrating ability to define, develop and execute new business opportunities.
  • Ability to translate/quantify data and other information and make reliable decisions on viable business prospect identification.
  • Ability to directly and effectively engage external customers at all levels.
  • Experience and exposure to regional business dynamics and the ability to drive implementation of required activities across the region.
  • Professional and positive approach, self-motivated, team player, dynamic, creative and ability to work on own initiative
  • Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to clearly present recommendations and ideas to summarize complex issues
  • Strong professionalism and work ethic
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
