Welcome to visit our official website: ************ About the Role Instacart is seeking a Manager II of Accounting to lead the finance operations of our China region. This role is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the full range of accounting, tax, and financial compliance activities in China, supporting our growing R&D operations. As the local finance leader, you will work cross-functionally with Instacart's global accounting, tax, legal, and supply chain teams to ensure accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with both US and China regulatory frameworks. This is an on-the-ground leadership role based in China. We are looking for a seasoned professional with prior audit experience and exposure to US GAAP and multinational environments—ideally someone who can serve as a bridge between our US headquarters and our local China operations. ABOUT THE JOB
- Lead all aspects of local accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll accounting, and month-end close in accordance with China GAAP and corporate timelines.
- Manage and mentor a local accounting team, overseeing their daily operations and professional development.
- Ensure compliance with China statutory requirements including VAT, CIT, and local filing obligations.
- Coordinate and manage local statutory audits and tax filings, acting as the main point of contact for local auditors and tax advisors.
- Drive compliance with Instacart's accounting policies and internal controls, identifying gaps and implementing enhancements where needed.
- Prepare and reconcile local financial statements to US GAAP and support the global consolidation process.
- Partner with the global tax team on transfer pricing, intercompany transactions, and R&D cost allocations.
- Provide financial oversight of supply chain and vendor spend, working closely with R&D operations and procurement.
- Act as a senior business partner to the China leadership team, offering finance insights to support strategic decisions.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in collaboration with FP&A and corporate functions.
- Provide regular reporting and updates to US-based corporate finance teams. ABOUT YOU Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 7+ years of experience in accounting and finance, including Big 4 audit experience and in-house roles with multinational companies.
- Strong knowledge of China GAAP, local tax regulations, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Exposure to US GAAP and SEC reporting environments.
- Proven ability to lead and scale accounting operations in a standalone legal entity.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across cultures and time zones.
- Fluency in Mandarin and English required. Preferred Qualifications
- Having a CPA or an equivalent credential is highly preferred.
- Experience supporting U.S. public companies is considered an advantage.
- Prior experience working with R&D organizations or supply chain operations is also a plus.
