As a global Tier-1 automotive supplier, Bosch develop industry-leading ADAS sensing, perception, and control technologies for top OEMs worldwide. Our China Research Center plays a strategic role in next-generation radar and sensor innovation, bridging global R&D with China’s fast-moving ecosystem of universities, start-ups, and research institutes.
We are expanding our advanced sensing team and seeking a Radar Research Scientist with strong academic foundations, automotive industry experience, and deep expertise in Radar-AI and emerging sensing technologies.
Position Overview
In this role, you will drive radar and sensor technology innovation from early research through prototype development. You will lead algorithm research, evaluate disruptive sensor concepts beyond radar, and maintain strong connections with China’s academic and industrial ecosystem to accelerate our innovation pipeline.
This position requires both visionary research capability and practical automotive awareness, ensuring concepts can scale into Tier-1 mass-production environments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Radar / Radar-AI R&D
- Develop advanced radar signal processing and Radar-AI algorithms (MIMO, imaging radar, interference mitigation, classification, micro-Doppler, etc.).
- Support building radar prototypes, tuning system performance, and preparing technical packages for global R&D and customer programs.
- Translate research outcomes into feasible ADAS functionalities aligned with OEM requirements.
2. Sensor Technology Roadmap & Innovation
- Investigate new and disruptive sensor types that may complement or challenge existing radar/camera/ultrasonic/LiDAR solutions.
- Provide technical insight on sensor hardware, SoC trends, and processing architectures to guide long-term roadmap planning.
- Maintain system-level understanding: how sensing, computing, and perception layers integrate into complete ADAS solutions.
3. China Ecosystem Engagement
- Build and maintain close relationships with leading Chinese universities, research labs, start-ups, and industry partners.
- Track emerging sensor research and local innovations; identify collaboration and incubation opportunities.
- Represent the company at local conferences, technical workshops, and ecosystem events.
- (Preferred) Bring influence or recognition within the radar or sensing community.
4. Cross-Regional & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with global radar, perception, AI, and system engineering teams to unify requirements and technical direction.
- Prepare research insights, technical assessments, and feasibility studies for global stakeholders.
- Work with product, hardware, and embedded teams to ensure new sensing technologies can scale to Tier-1 production maturity.
- Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Signal Processing, Computer Science, Physics, or related field.
- Strong academic foundation in radar or advanced sensing technologies.
- Industry experience in automotive ADAS radar or perception systems.
- Expertise in radar signal processing and/or Radar-AI (deep learning on radar data).
- Familiarity with sensor hardware fundamentals, SoC architecture, and perception algorithms.
- Ability to balance exploratory research with practical product-level constraints.
Preferred
- Reputation or visibility in radar/sensor academic or industry communities.
- Experience with emerging sensor types beyond radar.
- Existing connections within China’s academic or start-up ecosystems.
- Experience interfacing with OEMs or supporting production-intent prototypes.
