Job Summary
The General Manager of Sales will lead and manage all sales and business development activities within the
mining sector.
This role is responsible for driving the overall sales strategy, securing new clients, and growing relationships with existing customers in the mining equipment, technology, or service sectors. The GM will lead a high-performing sales team to achieve revenue and profitability targets, ensuring market leadership and strong brand presence.
Key responsibilities
Strategic leadership and planning
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to achieve corporate objectives and expand the market share in the mining industry.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify new growth opportunities.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to set sales targets, budgets, and business development initiatives.
- Formulate pricing strategies and assist in coordinating distribution and market access.
Sales and business development
- Take full accountability for the regional sales team and growth strategy for mining industry client across EMEA region.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key customers and stakeholders, including
mining companies, mining contractors, engineering firms, and OEMs
. - Utilize a consultative selling approach to understand customer needs and develop tailored, highly engineered proposals.
- Negotiate and finalize
complex sales deals
and contracts. - Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and other events.
Team leadership and management
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of sales professionals to achieve individual and team performance goals.
- Conduct regular sales training and coaching sessions to ensure the team is equipped with the latest product knowledge and selling techniques.
- Monitor sales metrics and performance indicators, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Manage the hiring, onboarding, and performance management process for the sales team.
Operational excellence
- Manage the sales budget, pipeline health, and forecasting to track performance and guide decision-making.
- Ensure the consistent use of CRM systems for tracking sales activities and customer interactions.
- Partner with cross-functional teams, such as engineering, product management, and service departments, to ensure seamless delivery and support.
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant industry regulations and company policies.
Qualifications and skills
Education and experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Mining Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 15+ years of progressive experience in B2B sales within the
mining or heavy equipment industry. - Proven track record of success in sales leadership roles, consistently exceeding targets.
- Familiar with the mining industry client in the EMEA region
- Must be bilingual of
Chinese Mandarin and English
. Other language skills will be a plus
