Role Overview
As Legal Counsel, you are a legal generalist and will provide strategic and operational legal support to our Chinese [and APAC] entities in all legal questions, ensuring compliance with local and international laws and internal policies, enabling business growth, and mitigating legal risks. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Sales, Finance, Tax, Procurement, HR, and Manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner in all legal and compliance questions with the local management team.
- Collaborate closely with the Group Legal team in Europe and US to ensure alignment with global legal policies and standards.
- Provide day-to-day legal advice to the sales and manufacturing subsidiaries in China.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts (inter alia sales and distribution, procurement, Key Opinion Leader, manufacturing, service agreements).
- Advise on a wide variety of commercial matters, including marketing and advertising, contracts, manufacturing related, licensing, distribution, EHS, compliance and regulatory matters.
- Support corporate governance matters, including subsidiary management, filings, and local corporate secretarial work to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
- Advise inter alia on anti-bribery, competition law, data privacy, export control.
- Manage compliance, and product-related legal matters relevant to the healthcare / medical device sector (e.g. specific marketing and tender questions).
- Advise on labor and employment law issues in close cooperation with HR.
- Manage litigation, arbitration, and external counsel coordination.
- Support M&A, joint ventures, and localization initiatives.
- Conduct legal and compliance training for local teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in law; PRC Bar admission required.
- Additional international legal education or bar qualification is a plus.
- 5–10 years of post-qualification experience, ideally in both law firm and in-house roles.
- Experience in industrial and/or medical device sectors preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work in an international corporate environment.
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Mandarin.
