About Our Client
We are seeking a strategic and results-oriented General Manager (GM) with a strong background in
Mechanical Automation (MA)
and a proven track record of driving profitable growth in industrial or manufacturing environments. The GM will oversee all aspects of the Mechanical Automation division, including P&L (Profit & Loss) responsibility, operational excellence, innovation, and team leadership. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, commercial acumen, and leadership to scale the business in a competitive global market.
Job Description
Strategic Leadership & P&L Ownership
Develop and execute a division-wide strategy aligned with corporate goals, focusing on revenue growth, market expansion, and margin improvement.
- Full ownership of P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial performance analysis.
Identify and capitalize on new market opportunities in automation, robotics, or industrial IoT.
Operational Excellence
Optimize manufacturing processes, supply chain efficiency, and production capacity to enhance throughput and reduce costs.
- Lead cross-functional teams (engineering, R&D, sales, operations) to deliver high-quality automation solutions on time and within budget.
Implement lean methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives.
Product & Technology Innovation
Drive R&D pipelines to develop cutting-edge mechanical automation systems, software, or AI-integrated solutions.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure technical feasibility and scalability of products.
Stay abreast of industry trends (e.g., Industry 4.0, cobotics) to maintain a competitive edge.
Commercial & Customer Success
Build strong relationships with key clients, OEMs, and partners to drive long-term contracts and recurring revenue.
- Expand the customer base through targeted sales strategies and value-added service offerings.
Oversee pricing strategies, negotiation of major deals, and customer retention initiatives.
Team Leadership & Culture
Recruit, mentor, and retain high-performing talent across technical, sales, and operational functions.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and safety.
- Act as a change agent to drive organizational agility and digital transformation.
The Successful Applicant
- Education: Master's degree (MA/MSc) in Mechanical Engineering, Automation, Robotics, or a related field. MBA preferred.
Experience:
10+ years in mechanical automation, industrial manufacturing, or a related field.
- 5+ years in a GM, Division Head, or equivalent P&L leadership role.
Proven success in scaling automation solutions or industrial technology businesses.
Technical Skills: Deep understanding of automation systems (PLC, SCADA, robotics), CAD/CAM, and IoT integration.
- Leadership: Ability to inspire cross-functional teams, drive accountability, and make data-driven decisions.
- Financial Acumen: Strong analytical skills to interpret P&L statements, balance sheets, and KPIs.
- Communication: Exceptional stakeholder management skills (C-suite, clients, investors).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in global markets or M&A integrations.
- Certifications in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Project Management (PMP).
- Track record of innovation in automation or Industry 4.0 technologies.
