Job Description
To conduct QAQC inspection on materials, maintenance activities, equipment modifications, and replacements involving static equipment, process piping, and storage tanks. The role ensures compliance with company specifications, industry codes, and standards. It also involves coordinating and participating in both destructive and non-destructive testing across various locations including operational sites, warehouses, and contractor or vendor workshops ensuring alignment with operational requirements for new projects and expansions.
Reporting line
Internal
- Frequent interaction with Plant Inspection, Asset Maintenance, Shutdown, Maintenance Workshop & Support Services and Warehouse.
- Regular contact with Operations for permits/asset related activities.
External
- Regular co-ordination with fabrication/shutdown contractors for repair/replacement/modification works.
- Regular communication with NDT contractors for required NDT inspections.
Job Responsibilities
- Inspect materials and equipment (e.g., valves, piping, vessels) and verify documentation against purchase orders, standards, and specifications to ensure compliance with project needs.
- Support Engineers in developing and qualifying welding procedures; witness tests and maintain records for procedures and welder certifications.
- Coordinate periodic inspections of gas cylinders and portable tanks; manage certification records to ensure safety and readiness.
- Conduct or witness material testing (destructive and non-destructive) to confirm compliance with technical standards.
- Provide QA/QC support during planned and emergency shutdowns, ensuring proper permits are in place.
- Join shutdown planning meetings, conduct site visits, and assist in defining work scopes and pressure test waivers.
- Review contractor procedures (quality plans, inspection/test plans, welding procedures, etc.) for maintenance and project work under approved change processes.
- Perform QA/QC tasks (e.g., welding, NDT, pressure testing, GRP/FRP wrapping) per specifications for maintenance activities.
- Close QA/QC-related work orders in SAP and upload inspection reports to Meridium for recordkeeping.
- Audit suppliers' and contractors' QA/QC systems and submit reports to Engineers to ensure quality compliance.
Job Requirements
- Higher National Diploma (HND) or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
- AWS-SCWI or CSWIP 3.2; or equivalent.
- Professional certification in API 510, 570, 653 (as applicable);
- ASNT/PCN Level-2 in UT, MT, PT, RT or Advanced NDT. - Attended relevant courses and attained certification as Knowledge and/or Experience
- 4 years' experience in material inspection, fabrication, welding, NDT, testing and painting/coating activities in oil and gas industry.
- Good knowledge in international codes and standards (ASME, AWS, ASTM, API, NACE/ISO). Technical and Business Skills
- Proficient written and spoken English.
