- Source new tooling factories, review and seek out optimized tooling suppliers
- Research and follow new tooling technology, process, materials.
- Must be able to perform tooling trial process until tooling is completed and approved.
- nTooling analysis per capacity requirement to alleviate production bottle neck.
- Make recommendations for tooling planning.
- Review tooling DFM and make suggestions for improvement.
- Do draft mold flow for design ME part.
- Conduct and approve the new tooling, include collect and review FAI and CPK report.
- Review the tooling design drawings.
- Guide all efforts pertaining to the design, sourcing, maintenance and repair of tooling within established mold build standards
- Coordination and optimization of all tooling RFQ's
- Lead the design review effort on sourced tooling before mold build kick off
- Estimating tooling expense pertaining to new or reworked tools
- Serve as a technical resource internally providing prompt and clear guidance to product and industrial design teams
- Continuous improvement on existing tooling
- Manage the tooling supplier base
- Capable of sample evaluations (dimensional, cosmetic) and coordinating tooling rework to correct non-conformance's
- Monitor construction of tooling, provide guidance, and implement changes where necessary
- Communicate challenges, updates, and schedule changes
- Monitor project schedules with tooling suppliers and ensure that projects are completed on time and per design requirements
- Create and maintain tooling log for all tools owned by company
REQUIREMENTS
- BSME or MSME/MSIE preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience in tooling design, fabrication and qualification required in high volume consumer electronic products. Engineering management or program management experience is a plus.
- Experience performing DFMs across multiple injection molded products and material types.
- Good problem-solving skills especially in relation to trouble shooting plastic injection molds.
- Strong knowledge of a variety of tooling processes and molding, including new technology of the tooling and injection molding, new plastic material.
- A good understanding of and experience with plastic finishing, decorating, sonic welding and other secondary operations is a plus.
- Tooling drawing review and approval experience is a must.
- At least 4 years of ProEngineer / ProSurface or UG, Solidwork and AutoCAD experience must.
- Hands on experience in a fast paced and high-quality manufacturing environment with a good working understanding of high volume manufacturing process is preferred.
- Knowledge in Production Part Approval Process (PPAP - gage R&R, FAI, cpk, control plan).
- Experience working with cross-functional teams managing multiple projects concurrently.
- Strong planning, scheduling, and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written) with the product development teams in the USA.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, a good team player.
- Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint experience a must.
