About the Team
:
The APAC Commercial Finance Business Operation Director will play a pivotal role in driving financial strategy and operational excellence across the region. This leadership role focuses on cross-functional collaboration to optimize customer experiences and maximize revenue opportunities. The role encompasses customer and partner engagement, pricing strategies, tax and invoicing compliance, accounts receivable, and collections, while supporting the broader go-to-market strategy and sales initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance operations, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
:
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
� Align with sales, tax, accounting, FP&A, AP, AR, and other cross-functional teams to optimize customer experience and revenue growth.
� Partner with sales GMs to support go-to-market strategies.
� Identify and drive improvements in transactional pricing, Chop/eInvoice, tax processes, and overall customer/partner interfacing to improve cash flow position
� Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve financial queries.
Strategic Financial Leadership:
� Lead finance initiatives and projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and market demands.
� Design, pilot, and implement new operational models for supplier and customer initiatives.
� Provide actionable insights by identifying trends, deviations, and emerging issues to support strategic decision-making.
� Actively contribute to go-to-market processes and structures while supporting related financial planning efforts.
� Assume a leadership role in strategic finance initiatives and organizational projects.
� Communicate findings effectively to stakeholders, translating complex business issues into financial outcomes.
� Work closely with regional and global teams to align financial goals with operational strategies.
Tax and Compliance:
� Oversee all income, VAT, and other tax filings for the region, ensuring compliance with applicable tax jurisdictions.
� Collaboration with the accounting and tax organization to ensure and support the company meets all statutory and regulatory requirements within the region.
� Act as the primary representative for government bodies and collaborate with the tax and accounting organization to ensure compliance.
Treasury Management/AP:
� Oversee cash flow forecasting, liquidity management and ban account payment release.
� Execute domestic/international payments, mange relationship with banking partners and 3rd party payment vendors;
Credit & Collections Management:
� Review the creditworthiness of existing and new customers, establishing appropriate credit limits and payment terms.
� Oversee accounts receivable collections, providing guidance and detailed action plans to ensure timely resolution.
Continuous Improvement:
� Optimize financial processes (i.e. automation, workflow streamlining) to enhance efficiency.
� Participate in system implementations (ERP) and policy development.
Qualifications
:
� Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (MBA/CPA preferred).
� 10+ years of progressive experience in Finance/Commercial roles, with at least 5 years in management.
� Fluency in both Mandarin and English is mandatory.
� Proven international experience, preferably in a matrixed, multinational organization.
� Strong understanding of financial principles, operational models, and market dynamics within the APAC region � specifically in China.
�Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
